Let me use some off color commentary to describe how I felt about the season finale of American Horror Story. The “Afterbirth” episode made me want to take a morning after pill - because it was the worst episode of the entire season.

You could tell it was poorly written and edited which made it feel very choppy and pieced together like the monstrous dead baby in the basement. Just to make one thing clear…I am a HUGE fan of this show and it blew me away up until this episode.

They tried to build a cliffhanger that would make fans tense up and anxiously await the arrival of season two. Unfortunately it become somewhat predictable at times and almost goofy compared to the episodes prior to this one. We were promised a one and a half hour season finale and were left with one hour and ten minutes. That isn’t even counting about 15 minutes of commercial breaks.*The next sentense contains a mild spoiler - SPOILER AHEAD* The only highlights of the show for me was when Ben gets hung by evils spirits and we end on the demonic baby in the rocking chair. That's it!

They re-shot some scenes for the finale and it showed. Once the first hour was over the title treatment “3 years later” appears as if to start a new ten minute episode.



To me it felt like the show painted itself into a strange corner that was hard to work around. Now we are left with a demonic child that grows faster than normal and
a happily- ever-after dead family celebrating Christmas in the living room. Won’t someone see a brightly lit tree inside an empty house? Especially after the series of murders that occured and a missing baby!?

The separation of good and evil (spirits) has been made apparent. Now that the teams have been picked it will be an all out battle to stop the demonic child from taking over the world. Not one soul that was living from season one is still alive except for Constance and the realtor.

I’m afraid season two is going to be harder to swallow than a blowjob given by the old maid - and half as enjoyable. I hope they prove me wrong and pull something magnificent out of their heads – or this series will end up like the residents of the murder house by season three….dead.

Kudos to Jessica Lange on her Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress
in a Drama. She deserves it!
