Shark Night Takes a Bite Out of Comic-Con
  KC - July 20, 2011

Shark Night 3D had one of the cooler off site experience of the Con. Setup just across from Petco Park was a beach front like booth complete with sharks to pose with, water gun giveaways, a chance to have your face on the Shark Night 3D poster AND an opportunity to ride a shark. No, not a real shark that would be dangerous.

Shark Night 3D had one of the cooler off-site experience of the Con. Setup just across from Petco Park was a beach front like booth complete with sharks to pose with, water gun giveaways, a chance to have your face on the Shark Night 3D poster AND an opportunity to ride a shark. No, not a real shark that would be dangerous.

I decided it was time for me to step up and accept the challenge put forth by my creepy friends. Shoes off, equipment bags pushed the to side I was ready to show this shark what I was made of. I held on for dear life for about 15 - 20 seconds before I fell off into my watery grave. Okay that is a bit sarcastic, it was just an air cousion but none the less I thought I had failed. That is until I watched other people ride it after me. They lasted all of about 5 seconds before getting bucked by the great white.

The cool thing about the Shark Night 3D booth is that they capture your photo while interacting with each station. Then they give you a stub to go find your photo on Facebook and tag yourself. Pretty good marketing because it will post directly to your wall - thus letting all your friends know about the movie.

I later put the water gun to good use back at the hotel while my creepy co-workers and I worked late to write articles, dump photos and yes shoot each other in the crotch with water guns as if we had wet our pants. Childish? Maybe. We are at a convention founded on comic books so we are allowed to be a bit childish, right?

Aside from the fun things you could do at the booth they also had a press night with the talent at the booth. Check out the Sara Paxton interview below along with me holding on for dear life while riding the shark.

Check out Shark Night 3D in theaters everywhere September 2, 2011.
